World Book Day

The children had an exciting couple of days to celebrate World Book Day. This year we decided to focus on book  illustrators and illustrations.

On Thursday the 7th March, each class enjoyed exploring a wordless book and composing their own text to tell the story to describe an illustration.  In assembly, the  children were  also introduced to the 6 elements of Reading for Pleasure,  along with this years World Book Day illustrator Vivian Troung.

On Friday 8th March, the children created illustrations  in the style of a chosen illustrator to illustrate one of the  Reading  for Pleasure elements. This culminated in a 'walking gallery' where  all the children walked around the school to admire and peruse  the illustrations created by  other classes. The  gallery also included the illustrations created by children at home to illustrate a story about our core values. Everyone was so impressed with the creativity of the children and their illustrative ideas.

The children also wore pyjamas to school for the day so they could cosy up with their buddy and share books.

Please enjoy the pictures which give a flavour of the day.
