Ace Club

ACE Kids Club is an established childcare facility run by Katherine Semar Schools, which has expanded and improved consistently over the years. When the School had its OFSTED in September 2013, ACE Kids Club were recognised as ‘OUTSTANDING’! (Please ask if you would like a copy of the report.)

As ACE is part of Katherine Semar schools, all policies (e.g. the child protection policy) are the same policies as the schools and can be found here.

The school and ACE do share information but it is still important that you tell ACE any important information which may affect ACE for example if your child has additional needs or if your child will not be attending ACE as they are absent from school or attending an after school club so we can keep all children safe in our care.

We offer three types of childcare club – Breakfast Club, After School Club and Holiday Club. ACE Kids Club aims to provide a fun, safe and inclusive environment that covers the needs of both parents and children.

We have a fantastic setting which includes a large hall, which encompasses a kitchen and dining area, as well as space for the children to play, relax and create. We have the use of the school’s huge playground, field, outdoor apparatus course, gazebo, forested area and we're very excited that we now have the use of the Musical Maze for the children to explore. During the holidays we can spread into the school and benefit from using the school hall and indoor climbing apparatus, art room and music room.

We are continuing to grow and increase our facilities to provide an even more exciting and structured environment. We have expanded on ideas and equipment, so that the children can enjoy new and better activities… as well as the ones they already love!

The Clubs

Breakfast Club

Our breakfast club operates during term time, starting at 7.45am. There are healthy breakfast options including wholemeal bread / toast, croissants, crumpets, pancakes, brioche, cereal, milk, yoghurt and fruit juice.

There is also a range of suitable games and activities for the children to play and do, giving them an enjoyable start to their day. When school begins, the junior school children walk through the school to their classrooms. The infant school children are escorted safely to the next door building, to their classrooms.

After School Club

ACE Kids Club runs a successful after school club. When school finishes, the juniors from Katherine Semar Junior School walk from their classrooms through to the ACE building. The infants are collected from their classrooms, by members of staff from ACE, and safely escorted to the ACE building at the junior school.

We open at 3.00pm and close at 6.00pm. First, the children are offered a drink and a piece of fruit / bread & jam / snack – much needed after a long afternoon at school! At 3.30pm we start the day's activities, which they can choose to take part in, including team games, arts & crafts, indoor or outdoor play. There is also a wide range of activities for them to do, including drawing, toys to play/build with, dolls, board games, as well as access to the large outdoor playground, field, apparatus and taking part in our gardening club, and much, much more.

We are very happy to say that we have now started a homework and guided reading club during ACE where children will get the chance to complete homework or reading with a member of staff supporting them.

At approximately 4.30pm, we all sit together and have some tea. For example: Bolognese/cheesy pasta, sausage hot pot, jacket potatoes with a variety of toppings, pizza and fish fingers rolls, along with chunks of tomato, cucumber, peppers, carrots, lettuce or mixed hot vegetables.

For the remainder of the kids’ time at ACE, we play games and do activities of their choice. These are mainly indoor activities like cards, board games, drawing and painting, reading, playing with toys. All in all, we make sure they are entertained and having fun.

Food & Refreshment at Breakfast and After School Club

ACE provides a selection of healthy breakfast items which children can select, including cereals and wholemeal toast with a range of toppings, as well as milk, water or fruit juice.

We provide children with a healthy fruit snack after school and a healthy meal at about 4.30pm. Below is the current menu, although please note we sometimes have to substitute meals if the following items are not available.

Food & Refreshment at Holiday Club

Whilst with ACE Kids Club, we ask parents/guardians to provide their children with a packed lunch and two healthy snacks. We also ask that NO NUTS / PEANUT BUTTER / NUTELLA are included in these, due to other children’s allergies. As we are a healthy eating club, we do ask that no fizzy drinks, sweets or chocolate are brought with lunch and only water and squash are brought to drink.
