World Book Day

Wow! What a fantastic World Book Day (week !) we have enjoyed at Katherine Semar.

All the children across the school attended a story telling session with local storyteller Janina Vigurs - everyone, children and adults were captivated by the stories she told.

It was amazing to see all the fabulous story character costumes that were worn across the school. Harry Potter, Gangsta Granny, Wally and various Julia Donaldson characters were popular. Thank you to all the parents for their support.

The infant staff dressed as different coloured crayons and performed "The Day the Crayons Quit" to the children - much laughter prevailed !

In addition, buddy reading took place across the school. It was fabulous to see the older children reading the younger children books and having lovely conversations.

The opportunity was also taken to formally open the new school library.  Parents and local businesses raised over £3000 towards new books for the library with the fundraising teams "Buy a Book" appeal.

Last, but by no means least, the children have been excited to listen to a masked reader each day... the faces behind the masks will be revealed tomorrow !
