Year 5 Visit William Morris Gallery

Year 5 visited the William Morris Gallery last week as part of their printing art unit. In school we have been looking at the wallpapers William Morris is famous for and the children loved walking around the gallery spotting familiar wallpapers and even remembering some of the names of the artwork! During the visit children got involved with many activities including weaving, building stain glass windows, using mirrors to reflect images and making use of a view finder to assist with drawing a detailed flower. Taking inspiration from William Morris and nature, the children also designed their own illuminative letter. A lovely day was had by all and we look forward to seeing how the gallery visit inspires children to design and make their own nature themed wallpaper over the coming weeks.
