William Morris Trip
As part of their Victorian topic, year 5 have been learning about William Morris and how he created his iconic designs. This trip to his former home brought their classwork to life as they were able to peek 'behind the scenes' to see how his belief in making the world a better (and more beautiful) place and love of literature shaped the work of his company.
The children participated in a trail around the gallery; absorbing information, seeing his designs and design process up close, and even getting hands-on with some of the interactive exhibits. In the gallery classroom, they tried their hands at designing illuminated letters in the style of Morris's Kelmscott Press.
