Memories of 2020-2021

Year 1 had a wonderful trip to SWCHS to see all the animals.

Year 2 had a fantastic day at Wicken Fen nature reserve to land their topic this week.

On Friday the 9th July, we were visited by Randolph Sliester, who works for the British Antarctica Survey on the ship The Sir David Attenborough and is one of our Year 3 parents. 

To mark the end of their time at Katherine Semar, Year 6 had a fun day out to Great Notley Country Park to experience the dizzying heights of the Sky Ropes. 

We had a magical time at the Aquarium, we saw lots of different underwater animals; a firm favourite were the sharks. 

Great fun was had at the Junior School Sports Day!

Last week, Leopard Class had a fantastic fun time at Forest School!

Year Five have been writing poems in response to a poem called There is No Planet B by Sue Hardy-Dawson, as well as speeches from Sir David Attenborough and Greta Thunberg.  

Year 3 had a fantastic time at West Stow Anglo Saxon Village. 

To launch our topic 'Under the Sea' we looked at the life of Mary Anning and her curiosities. 

Year 1 landed their topic of vehicles by having a ‘Bring Your Bike to School Day’. 

Turtles had a fabulous Forest School session this week. 

Katherine Semar Infants celebrated May Day in style again this year. 

Year 3 ended their French unit of work on animals by learning and performing a French version of the song Old McDonald. 

Early Years launched their topic, 'Beastly Beings.' 

Arctic Wolves have been learning all about how to grow healthy plants in our science lessons. 

At last, the long awaited Roman Day, postponed from the beginning of January, has finally taken place!

During  the holidays, the teachers have worked to create a ‘creative’ video to welcome the children back to school. 

During the last week of the Autumn term we held an assembly for the Margaret Jude Award.

Today is Christmas jumper day so Arctic Wolves took the opportunity to get some brilliant class photos together. 

This week, Arctic Wolves have started to learn their 2, 5 and 10 times tables. 

The Spirit of Christmas concert went online this year, with schools contributing their songs by video. The carol writing competition went ahead as usual, with the organisers of The Spirit of Christmas looking for originality in the tunes and a deep meaning in the words.

It is the end of Early Years topic ‘Adventures of the Night’ and they certainly had an adventure today. 

Every year Saffron Walden Choral Society runs a Carol Competition where they invite young composers from all our local schools to write their own music for a carol in whatever style they choose, which can then be put forward into the competition.
