York Residential Day 1

Thank you to all - We got off on time this morning. The traffic was fierce, and we made slower progress than we wanted to, meaning that we reached Whitby later than we planned.

On the plus side, the rain abated and the Captain Cook experience was a real pleasure. The sea was calm and spirits high. We walked the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey and admired it's stature and imposing architecture.

Once back on the road, we saw a beautiful sunset as the sun finally burst forth.

The hotel is as lovely and comfortable as we remembered it being last year. All the children have settled into their new rooms and unpacked for the week.
Dinner was sausage and mash and we held our annual York quiz. The winners were Caitlin, Charlie, Jayden and Sydney.

The children are now preparing for bed... We walked a long way (and the 199 steps were hard!), so we hope they will settle well tonight.
