On Tuesday 19th June Class 5JD went to Thaxted as part of their study of the local area and also to support their literacy unit “The Highwayman”. The children began the day with a visit to The Guildhall and enjoyed talks on both the history of the building and the tales of Dick Turpin, the famous highwayman who lived in Thaxted. After that, the children walked up to the windmill and were treated to their very own guided tour…right up to the top! Having enjoyed their picnic lunch and a run around in the beautiful sunshine, class 5JD visited the magnificent parish church. The day ended with the children completing a quiz about the high street of Thaxted. Enjoy the pictures of the day.
