On Friday 3rd November, Year 4 became archaeologists and participated in a range of excavation activities. We looked at maps from the past and discovered that the school is built on the site of an old fever hospital. We used clues to identify lion, badger, pig and sheep skulls as well as a whole swan skeleton! We were able to age pieces of pottery that dated back in time over a range of time periods. We also dug up seeds using special tools that we were able to name for the clues provided. Finally, we ‘dug’ back through layers of history as an example how technology has changed and improved over time to try and identify the time period of the artefacts.
