On Thursday 15th October, Year 3 visited St. Mary's church in Saffron Walden. This was to enrich the work that they have been doing in R.E. The children were met by the rector, David Tomlinson who spoke to them about his church and some of its special artefacts. The rector was impressed by the children's knowledge about symbolism and he spoke about three important ones: the cross, water and light and told them two stories from the Bible. The children were then allowed to explore and investigate the special features to be found in a church before we began the long walk back up to school and lunch.
