On Friday 12th October, Year 3 took an earlier than usual lunch break and at 12:15 set off for St. Mary’s church. The Year 3 classes from all Saffron Walden schools had been invited to an organ recital which we also combined with our RE learning about Anglican churches.
After a very blustery walk in the unexpectedly warm weather, the children set about investigating and learning about the features of this beautiful church before taking their seats for the organ concert which was pitched perfectly for the seven and eight year old pupils. The organisers used cameras and a screen to show the two organists at work in the organ loft and played music to appeal to their young audience. All too soon, it was time to for us to begin the walk back to school and brave the wind again.
