Katherine Semar sounded like the Rio Carnival for the day on Monday as our Olympic Week launched with a visit from a Samba drummer. Each class had a session with Mr Sissons, who discussed the origins of Samba, the instruments and the musical terminology involved. The children loved playing the different instruments, including Djembe drums, maracas, small drums and tambourines. They enjoyed call and response activities and ended up making their own Samba band. If your child starts singing, "I like bananas!" to a Samba rhythm, now you will know why!
