Patsy Receives Award for Service to her Community

On Wednesday 9th March, Patsy in Year 6 was invited by the Rotary Club in Saffron Walden to receive a prize for service to the community. A child from Dame Bradbury's; Friends School, Chrishall, Gt. Chesterford and Katherine Semar were selected because they fitted the Rotary Club's message of 'Others before self'.

As well as contributing fully to school life, Patsy is deeply involved with serving her community through her church. She is a member of the Salvation Army and believes that serving others is serving God.

Mr. Hull, her class teacher, introduced Patsy to the crowd of approximately 200 dignitaries, and then Patsy read her prepared speech. She read with confidence and gave her testimony, revealing what she does, particularly for the elderly, and why. She ended her speech by revealing that she will become a missionary when she's older, where she can serve God through working with people.

Patsy's mum was present to watch her receive the award. She received books, chosen by herself, to the value to £30.
