Spartak 78 v Saffron Hawks
On Saturday 6th February Saffron Hawks played there away match against Spartak 78.
After 5 weeks without a match it was great to get back into the swing of things. The game started well with Saffron Hawks keeping a good shape and putting Spartak under a great deal of pressure. Saffron Hawks were rewarded for their continued pressing with 3 goals in the opening 15 minutes of the game, including one long range spectacular strike from Tom S, and two other well worked goals finished off by Callum C. and Tom S.
The second half began differently from the first. Spartak responded well despite their 3-0 deficit creating a few chances but Mirosh stood firm in goal and pulled off one of the saves of the season to prevent Spartak from scoring. George B. and Jonathan M. fought extremely hard in the heart of the defence, standing firm and making it difficult for Spartak to score.
Finally Spartak did eventually score with about 10 minutes to go, but if there were any nerves about the last few remaining minutes, they were settled when Mason Mc. chipped over the defender and volleyed stunningly in the bottom corner to settle the match and give Saffron Hawks their first win of the season!!!
Final score Spartak 78 1 – 4 Saffron Hawks
Saffron Hawks 14 v 0 Asco
On Saturday 23rd of January, Saffron Hawks (made up of the Katherine Semar Junior School team) played Asco.
The team started the game with some brilliant movement in the first quarter and some fantastic shooting by Katie. and Alice H. Every player played well through out the game, there was some good defending by Evie and Charlotte B.
By the third quarter, our defence was getting cold so we changed around a bit. Some good passing by Ruby and Bella. Rebecca and Chloe both kept the team moving with some excellent passing and support.
The final score was 14-0 to Saffron Hawks. Katie scored 9 goals and Alice 5 goals. Thanks to Ttandi for coaching us and to all the parents that came to support.
Gt. Chesterford Girls 3 Katherine Semar Girls 0
Luck wasn't on our side on Thursday 4th February, as our girls' football team failed to hit the back of the net.
As the girls' team played, they showed good passing skills and applied pressure on the Gt. Chesterford team. The girls, who train each Wednesday afternoon, played well, but couldn't convert their chances. Not only did we have far more shots on target, we also had more possession of the ball. You may think we'd have won with this control, but their goalkeeper was exceptionally talented, and managed to get her hands to everything that came her way.
Great Chesterford played well: they held their team formation. Their team scored - THREE TIMES! While the result looks large, it does not reflect how evenly the two teams were matched.
Earlier in the season, KSJ beat Gt. Chesterford, so with this defeat, it's all even. Perhaps we'll meet in the tournament in March!?
Saffron Hawks 4 - 2 Cheshunt
The under 11s continued their fine form winning another game. The Hawks had plenty of possession but failed to take all their chances.
Eventually the Pink Assassin, Alice H, started the scoring. She eventually ended up with 3 goals, Becky R getting the other.
Becky also played centre with Chloe S who really controlled game. Player of the match performance from the ever smiling Charlotte B in GD supported by Evie B kept Cheshunt at bay. This was a good performance against a team that has a lot more experience than the Hawks.

Well done to all those involved.
Saffron Hawks 10-10 Turnford B
On Saturday 24th October 2009, Saffron Hawks played Turnford B team.
We got of to a great start with some good shooting by Katie Sharp and some great passing down the line by the rest of the team. In the second quarter poor passing resulting in the other team getting possession more than they should have done. The first half ended with Turnford being 2 goals up and spirits, like the weather were somewhat dampened. The team rallied more in the second half and Georgina and Katie scored some amazing goals to end the game with a lucky draw. Over all the score lead to being 10 all a great improvement on the previous weeks score and an indication of what the team can achieve with united play.

All the girls that played in this game are from Katherine Semar Junior School. This is a club to schools Link which we are pleased to recommend to pupils. It is a means to help the school encourage pupils to reach the government 5 Hour offer.
On Thursday 15th October, our girls' football team travelled to Felsted Primary School to play a match for qualification to a larger tournament.
Unfortunately we didn't win, so our cup campaign came to a sudden end. However, we learnt a lot from that match and have plans to strengthen the team this season. We also enjoyed playing competitively.
Well done to all who took part.
