On Monday 16th May, Katherine Semar played Manuden School in a High-5s netball match. The winner of this match would go on to represent Uttlesford at the County event held in Basildon.
The game started well and KSJ soon built up an early lead. A trio of points from Ruby meant that the team finished the first quarter 3-1 up. Another comfortable quarter followed and scores from Olivia and Mateusz meant that KSJ were 6-1 up at half-time. In such a strong position, Mr Haralambous was looking to the team to close down the opposition and secure the win.
However, the beauty of High 5s meant that the rotation saw Manuden have a strong pair up front for the third quarter. This, coupled with some slack passing from KSJ, left the scores at the end of this quarter tied at 6-6. KSJ knew they were capable of winning this match and kept their calm to win the final quarter 3-1 with two more scores coming from the reliable Ruby and one from Olivia. The other players contributed well and Gaelle was excellent in the centre of the court.
The final score ended KSJ 9 Manuden 7. It was a close game leaving plenty for the team to work on before next Wednesday's tournament. The team will travel there as Uttlesford champions and reigning County champions and should feel confident of retaining their trophy.
Many thanks to Mr Haralambous and all the parents who came down to support the team. Please enjoy the photos (minus the trophy!)
