Harvest Festival

On Friday 23rd September, the children and staff of Katherine Semar Juniors held their harvest celebration in the united Reformed Church in Abbey Lane, Saffron Walden.

The children of Year 3 began the proceedings after a song. They looked at what harvest is and then sang Big Red Combine Harvester as their song.

Year 4 looked at how far the ingredients for their dinner had travelled in order to make it onto their plate. Once the food miles were totalled, they sang 'Lunchtime Queue.'

Year 5 looked at the the creation of the world as set out in the bible. They finished by singing 'Beautiful World.'

Year 6 used personification to describe the season of Autumn and used this to write poetry on the season. They they sang the song 'Hibernate', a song they will be performing at the Big Sing Concert in October.

Major Carol, from the Salvation Army accepted the gifts of food that the children had collected and it will be distributed to those in need within the community.
