Football Tournament

On Wednesday 5th October KSJ Year 6 football squad attended a football tournament at Herbert’s Farm.
Our first opponents were Rodings. They were a good opposition who put us under pressure but we had more time to attack and passes of the ball. It was a close match but ended in a 0-0 draw.
Our second game was against Flitch Green Purple. We had many shots and, after a while, Harry banged home a goal for us which made us have a 1-0 victory and 5 points.
Our third opponents were Great Dunmow. Early on Alfie bagged a goal via a corner from Lynden. Soon after that Matthew scored a sweet goal and then unluckily we conceded a goal. We kept on going until the final whistle and that was our second win out of 3 games still unbeaten.
The fourth match we played RAB and we played brilliantly and picked up a win. Early on we got a corner that Harry whipped in the box for Josh to pounce on it and get a goal. Still passing well, Matthew scored a goal to make it 2-0. Getting lots of shots and putting them under pressure, Jack snatched the ball off the right defender to hit it into the top corner and make it 3-0.
Our last group match was against Thaxted. We were attacking well and putting them under pressure. A few minutes after kick off Jack passed the ball to Harry who passed the ball to Louis to smash it in the goal. Soon after that, Harry got the ball and passed it to Louis who put it home. With not long to go Bayley threw the ball to Louis who ran the pitch to score to make a hat trick. The game ended 3-0 to us which meant we won our group.
In the semi-final we were up against Flitch Green Black who put us under pressure but we stayed strong and kept our heads high. We had lots of chances but none of them went in. The game ended 0-0 which meant we had to go to penalties. Harry stood first and hit the post, then they scored. Josh was up next, he hit the ball hard and hit the bar, then they scored again so sadly we lost.
We would like to thank Mr Warwick and Mr Gilkes for training us and Mr Webb for letting us take part and the parents for watching us.
