Creative Arts Week

Last week the whole school took part in creative arts week. The theme was "The Environment" and pupils took part in art, dance and music activities based around this theme.

The whole school  worked on a song called PLASTIC and learnt dance moves especially choreographed by Miss Cadwallader.

Each year group had a particular art project to work on during the week. The infant school concentrated their artistic talents on creating a collage of a particular habitat, using recycled materials. Key Stage 2 created props in readiness for the Junior School Choir’s performance at the end of the week. A giant book of extinct animals, animal masks and headgear, plastic bottle animals and a giant human figure---all using recycled materials.

A drumming workshop took place for Years 1, 2, 3 and 4  and both schools celebrated at the end of the week with a sharing assembly.

The junior assembly included a performance by the Junior School choir entitled Along Came Man by Lin Marsh, in which the children performed and sang beautifully. This was repeated at the end of the day to parents.

It was such a joy to be able to once again engage in a week of creative activities whilst at the same time reinforcing the importance of caring for our environment.
