In Celebration of National Children’s Book Week, the Year 2 and Year 5 children from Katherine Semar Infants and Junior schools worked together to produce some wonderful Literacy and art work. The children’s work was based on the book ‘Into the Forest’ by the Children’s Laureate, Anthony Browne.
The children worked with a range of materials to weave a fantastic forest and collage the main character from the story. A variety of leaves were decorated to create a colourful carpet for the forest floor. The children thought of a variety of adjectives to describe the forest and added these to their leaves.
Working in mixed age groups, the children also retold and illustrated different events from the story.
The day was a huge success and very enjoyable. We are sure that you ill enjoy looking at our work which is on display in school.
