Year 6 York visit Day 2

Day 2 started with breakfast at 8:00 am. All of the children slept well, no doubt exhausted after lots of walking yesterday. Today we have visited the York Castle Museum where the children have found out about different time periods and about York prison. We took part in a workshop activity at the museum to help us understand about crime and punishment in Victorian times and the children enjoyed looking at toys through the ages. After the museum we visited Clifford's Tower which is one of the oldest buildings in York. The children have discovered the benefits of defences being on high ground and the importance of the River Ouse for both defence and as a source of water for the city. A lovely walk in the Autumn sunshine back to the hotel followed this before the children tucked into their tea. In the evening we went bowling and a great time was had by all, the children are now all in bed and sound asleep ready for another jam packed day tomorrow.
