On Wednesday 4th October 2017, the girl’s football squad from KSS year 5 and 6 were at Herbert’s Farm to play against other schools in their first USSP football tournament of the year.
The girls were due to play 3 matches against Great Dunmow B, RAB 3 and Rodings A, in the group stages.
The year 5 & 6 girls got off to a slow start, losing their first match against Great Dunmow B, 1-0. However, their performances improved very quickly, with them winning their next 2 matches, 2-1 and 2-0. This meant they were able to progress forward into the semi-final.
Their semi-final was against RAB 1. Unfortunately, after a tough game KSS lost their semi-final 4-0.
KSS were able to play an extra game for 3rd or 4th place. This match was against RAB 2. KSS girls started strong, taking the lead. The game was now 1-0 and KSS had to defend strongly to stop RAB 2 from equalising. As the match progressed it was looking like a very close game but went in the favour of KSS, ending 1-0, putting KSS girls 3rd place overall in the tournament.
Congratulations to the girls. Everyone played brilliantly!
