Year 4 visited Saffron Walden Museum during the last week of the Spring term..
It was to support our Ancient Egypt topic and also a taste of next term’s work on the Tudors.
After a brisk walk there, we arrived at 10am just as the museum opened. We investigated the Egyptian section which although small has an Ancient Egyptian sarcophagus and mummy as well as a canopic jar. Standing guard outside the Egypt room was a popular exhibit – the Lion Wallace!
We also looked at some Tudor furniture and some Roman artefacts found around Saffron Walden and Essex. Too soon, it was time for us to start the long, mainly uphill journey, to school, in time for lunch.
