On 25th April, Elephants Class visited Saffron Walden Museum, followed by the Okapis on the 26th. We enjoyed having a workshop session which recapped on the impact of Roman Invaders, the Anglo Saxons and then introduced the effect of the Viking Invaders on Britain.
We were fortunate enough to handle some very old artefacts including Roman mosaics, pots and and Viking pins. We looked at a replica Viking necklace, the original of which is on display in the museum and was found in Abbey Lane!
We also took part in a museum trail, focussing on Viking and Anglo Saxon artefacts, including grave goods. This was a great start to our history topic and has prompted even more fabulous questions from the children.
