Year 3 Roman Road

As part of Year 3’s Radical Roman topic, the children have learned about how the Romans constructed their roads. First of all, on top of compacted earth was a layer of sand, then large rocks and stones covered with cement. Next, came a layer of broken tiles and more cement all capped by large slabs of flat stones. Our version was made from crushed digestives, Maltesers, Smarties/M&Ms set with custard ‘cement and topped with custard cream biscuits. 
You have probably never seen such happy road constructors! They were even happier the next day when they were allowed to eat their ‘roads’. Please enjoy the photos...
