On Friday 5th January 2018, Year 2 launched their topic: London's Burning (The Great Fire of London).
Both classes learned about Samuel Pepys's diary and had a go at using a quill and ink to write their name.
Essex Fire Service came to us to talk about how the fire service has changed since 1666 and how we can make sure we are safe with fire in 2018. The children practised passing a bucket to demonstrate how the Londoners in 1666 transferred water from the River Thames to extinguish the fire and we tried on today’s Fireman’s uniform.
We’d like to thank Essex Fire Service for a fantastic morning.
