On Thursday 2nd October, Year 6 took a trip to RAF Duxford, visiting the Battle of Britain Hanger, Airspace hanger and the Land Warfare hanger as part of their work on World War 2.
The children learnt about life as a fighter pilot; what life was like on the home front; the roles on men and women through the war and got to see Spitfires, Hurricanes, Doodlebugs and Messerschmitts as well as a host of tanks and other army vehicles.
After their talk on the Home front, where they learnt about the uniforms, how to put out an incendiary bomb (Very carefully), and being an evacuee.
During the afternoon, they got to see some modern planes and even climbed aboard Concorde!
The children were well behaved throughout and were complemented on their smart appearance and behaviour by staff at the museum.
