Semar’s stars shine at National Science Quiz Finals at Oxford University.
After victories in the qualifying rounds and a dramatic qualification in the Semi-Finals in London, Katherine Semar's Science quiz team made the journey to Oxford University for the national Finals.
On Friday 3rd March, the morning was spent at the Museum of Natural Science, exploring the artefacts and swatting up on scientific knowledge. After lunch the competition started. The team was not expecting an easy ride as they were competing against the top schools in the country, however the got off to a strong start. The questions were tough and the competition fierce. By the half way mark, Katherine Semar's team was sitting in second position, however, by the of the quiz they moved down the rankings slightly, scoring 1720 points, while the winning team, from Oxfordshire scored 2010 points.
Although disappointed not to win, coming 7th out of all schools in England and Wales was a tremendous achievement.
