On Thursday 10th November, Katherine Semar Girl's Football team competed in the U11s 7-a-side Schools Cup for Girls (Outer Essex Region). This was hosted at Chigwell School and would feature thirteen teams from the different sports partnerships in Essex.
This was to be a real challenge for this year's team because it would be the first competitive matches they had played together. The team were in Group A with six other teams and would play each other once with the top two going through to the semi-finals.
The girls, led bravely by Charlotte, competed superbly in all games with their only large defeat coming to, eventual semi-finalists, Bournes Green. They lost five and drew one of their games but in four of their games the losing margin was only one goal. Their best performance was a 0-0 draw against Old Heat with KSJS hitting the woodwork on multiple occasions.
Nevertheless, the objective of the tournament was for the team to learn and improve and they did exactly that. Their sportsmanship was fantastic and their team spirit was unbreakable.
I would like to offer a huge thanks to the team for representing the school so superbly; Mrs Norton and Mrs Kozlowska for supporting the children and a huge thanks to Mrs Diamond for transporting children and keeping me fed and watered.
