Essex Air Ambulance visits Katherine Semar Schools
Children from Katherine Semar Junior and Infant schools enjoyed a visit from the Essex Air Ambulance helicopter.
A volunteer from the air ambulance service, together with 'Pilot Pete' arrived at school by car and held an assembly where there children were told all about the the air ambulance service. They learnt that the service relies entirely on donations and contributions from the public and that it costs £250,000 a month to keep the service running!
Pupils were also told about the work that the air ambulance do.
Once the assembly finished, the classes went into the playground where the helicopter landed. Each class get the opportunity to walk around the helicopter and talk to the pilot, doctor and paramedic.
On Friday 25th September, we will hold our 'Yellow Day' in support of the air ambulance service. Each child should wear something yellow, and bring in a donation of at least a pound towards to running of the helicopter.
